The most significant advantage of trading on Ally Invest is that you may trade options, stocks, and ETFs without paying a fee. The broker does not impose inactivity or annual fees. Ally Invest, on the other hand, charges a flat fee of $0.50 per choice and $50 for a full transfer.
Ally Invest also has a $100 minimum purchase requirement for OTCBB and Pink Sheet shares. For orders of less than $2, the broker adds 1 cent per share to the total order, plus $4.95. Most government bonds also have a $1 fee, and mutual funds charge $9.95 for each trade.
Ally Invest provides two types of accounts on its website: self-trading and managed portfolios. Ally Invest Forex LLC also provides one self-account option through Ally Invest Forex. Furthermore, Ally Invest does not allow for international accounts.
Self-directed accounts are intended for active investors. Individual, joint, and custodial taxable accounts are all accessible through the broker, as are ordinary Roth, Rollover IRA, and Coverdell accounts. Self-hosted trading accounts do not require a minimum deposit.
Ally Invest Forex also provides forex products and services to individual investors, with a $250 minimum commitment required to open new accounts. An Ally Invest Forex account may also be used to trade gold and silver.
Ally Invest does not provide a paper trading account or a demo trading account. You can, however, establish a separate account to evaluate the broker’s features and tools without placing any transactions. Ally Invest does not charge any fees for this access, and no papers are required; all you need is a username and personal information. There is also no required minimum balance for cash and retirement accounts.
